Why are you called Handy Woman Direct?
Our name says exactly what we provide. Female trades people that are professional, reliable and honest. All handy women are uniformed and wear identity badges.

 

How much does your service cost?
This depends on the type of job and length of time it would take to complete. For each job we provide individual quotations in writing and verbally over the phone. Generally for small jobs such as hanging mirrors, gardening we charge a standard £20.00 per hour fee. For jobs that may take a few hours or even days then we will quote you a special rate instead of an hourly rate to save you money.

 

Cancellation
We operate a 24-hr cancellation policy.  If you have to cancel your job for any reason 24 hours notice must be given.  If we do not receive 24 hours notice or we cannot gain access to a property our minimum cost of £20+vat will be charged.

 

Does this include materials?
No - materials are extra. Customers tend to use us purely as a labour service, but we can supply materials for you if needed. We will inform you of the likely cost of materials and require agreement before we purchase them.

 

Do your handywomen come with all the right tools?
Yes - All our handywomen carry a comprehensive range of tools to tackle most jobs. They also carry a wide selection of small parts (screws, nails, wall plugs, plumbing connections and more).

 

Do you do free estimates?
In most instances, we can give you a good idea over the telephone of how long a job is likely to take. You can then book someone in, and when they arrive they will confirm or revise the estimate based on what they find at the job. If it is clearly going to take a lot longer than expected, you can decide not to go ahead. If you are happy to go ahead then our handy woman will complete necessary paperwork and proceed to do the job there and then.

 

Are you insured?
Yes, we have £1m of public liability insurance.

 

How quickly can you come out?
Our work is booked a couple of days in advance, however we do callouts from time to time that are not pre-booked depending on our schedules and workloads. Please call to check availability.

 

Business Hours?
Are hours are 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday. We can do jobs in the evening or on Saturdays for a 30% premium. Our office is open from 8.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday.

 

Do you have any CORGI registered engineers?
No. We provide general handy women, who can do a wide range of jobs, but we are not CORGI registered, so we don't do any work with gas.

 

How do you know that the people you use are reliable?
All our handy women have worked in the industry and come with a portfolio of work and testimonials of happy customers. Please note that all our handy women are just that: handywomen. There may be some jobs that we can't tackle, in which case we will always tell you and can recommend a suitable specialist to use instead.

 

Will I have to wait in all day for your handy woman to show up?
No - we give specific one hour slots in which we aim to arrive. We are nearly always bang on time, but sometimes if we are running a little late we will always call you well in advance to let you know our revised estimated arrival time.

 

How big a job can you take on?
The jobs we do generally range from 30 minutes to a day. We do sometimes do much larger jobs lasting several days.

 

What areas do you cover?
We currently operate in Swansea , Cardiff , Carmarthen, Neath, Port Talbot, South Wales Valleys , West Wales to Pembrokeshire, Powys.

 

How can I pay?
We except payments via cheque with a valid guarantee card and cash payments. You will be provided with a receipt of payment for your records and asked to sign a job sheet to confirm you are satisfied with the work carried out.
